Advance Gesture Modify Request

  • Reason:

Since the launcher is meant to effectiveness, I would like to request to modify the current gesture navigation into a whole new level. The current gestures are also seems to be outdated.

  • How:

Simply I have two suggestions. I would be glad either way.

  1. Add drag Back option. This is the recent method of the gesture usage. Drag from the sides, it returns back and drag from the bottom side to a half way, it goes to home and drag from the bottom until center, it goes to recent apps. Since the A-Z side bar is also using the right side, why don’t you create a gesture/touch deadline.

  2. Second way is by adding an assistive touch button. Simply when dragging to a certain direction, it will do the relevant action. In order to move the button for somewhere in the screen (so it will never be stopping the vision of the screen), hold the button and drag it away.

Simply these two gestures are far more effective than a navigation buttons. I look forward for a favourable action from you. Anyway, I love this launcher already.

Thankyou

Thanks for the detailed suggestion! The part about emulating back, home and recents gestures inside the launcher is already a request here: Gesture Navigation Emulation. Upvoting that one is the best way to push it, since we go through requests roughly by upvotes.

Some background on why this shows up as a request rather than a setting: the navigation buttons, gestures and the recent apps screen are controlled by the device rather than by the launcher, so Niagara cannot change or influence them directly. There is a short section on it in Commonly reported bugs.

Your second idea, the movable assistive touch button, is a separate feature. If you post it on its own, it can collect its own upvotes instead of riding along with the first one. This article explains how we handle requests.
