Auto-hide apps in folder from all-apps list
Add an option to folders to hide contained apps from the all-apps list.
This would de-clutter the all-apps list and allow users to organize apps via folders better since the folder would become the primary way to access the contained apps.
We think per-folder makes the most sense instead of a general setting, since it allows for more customization without adding much complexity.

I don't know why this is being debated. From the users point of view we want to achieve a less cluttered app list by moving (not copying) apps into folders. Also this is standard behavior for almost all other apps and UI’s. Think of a file explorer app for example. The default behavior when dropping a file into a folder it is to MOVE it not COPY it. If simplicity is the developer’s goal the current implementation does not achieve it.

I am actually blown away that it has been 9 months since this has been “planned.” This is essential. Apps shouldn't live it multiple places, giving unnecessary cluttered notifications in your app list. If an app is placed in a folder, that's it's home.

“While we think this is a good idea, we are unsure whether the complexity that comes with it is worth it.”
I'm not sure to understand the complexity argument. The mechanism for hiding apps from the list is already in place, and there are existing customizations that are much more sophisticated than this. If I take the time to organize apps in folders, it's because I don't want them duplicated in the list; this would annoy anyone who prefers a minimalist layout.

Since “hidden” is a category the feature should be simple to integrate: Just add a “Autohide” switch. If ticked and an app get's foldered it automatically get's into this category too in this moment. So a user can, if he wants, just unhide/rehide the app manually like now afterwards. It just automates the process of hiding the app if put in folder, but doesn't touch the other logic.

I would sincerely be interested to get more information about the “complexities” the developers think this feature would add?
They already are planning to implement an auto folder for work that would presumably hide the apps from the main app list. Also, they already have the option to hide apps from the list, so it cannot be that complicated (I am a developer so I would know) to simply add a settings toggle and some logic to do that automatically when an app is added to a folder. Like you say, everything else stays exactly the same. No other features or functions are altered.
It would also be excellent if the user was asked what behavior they expect either during initial setup of Niagara, or just while setting up the pop-up folders.
User choice should always be paramount.

This should be a default. The whole point of creating folders is to organize and categorize the apps into similar functions, and declutter the apps list

An app shouldn't live in multiple places. It should be in a folder or in the list, not both.

Agree , like I've 396 user apps in my phone so made a lot of folders to manage them and I don't want the same app in the app list as well

I would also appreciate this “toggle” as it makes it easier to see if any apps have been missed during categorization (either manual categorization as it is now or automatic categorization as it will hopefully be in the future).
Right now, even the suggestions for the home screen tell me to add apps that I already have in a pop-up folder so it feels silly. Niagara should know if the app is in a folder in favorites or not.

This is being debated after being sat on for a year? The whole point of this to me is to be able to easily declutter my app list. If it's that much of an issue, just add a checkbox on the folder to “Hide these apps?”
This is a dealbreaker.
