Feature Request

A common use case for pop-up folders is to group similar apps. Similar apps often belong to the same category, like Fitness or Games. It would be great to allow the creation of folders that automatically update their contents so they contain all apps of a certain category. That way, manually editing the folder becomes redundant, and using it becomes more comfortable.

A major issue we are facing in this is how to categorize apps, since it is a complex issue to solve.

    I would love to see automatic app categorization and folders in Niagara Launcher! It would be great if apps could be automatically grouped into categories such as Games, Social Media, Browsers, and Tools, with the option to manually adjust the categories when needed. This would make organizing large app libraries much easier while keeping Niagara's clean and minimalist design. I hope this feature will be considered for a future update!

    Hi, brand new user here. I rely very heavily on my folders to group and categorize my apps. Recreating those in Niagara is proving to be a lengthy task, partly because I can't reference my native launcher while working in Niagara Launcher. Would it be possible for Niagara to somehow “read” the folders I already have set up in the native launcher and create identical folders in Niagara? Or… since it's already recognizing the category based on app data, maybe there could be a toggle that allows the user to say “yes, please create folders by category”. That would go a long way toward helping me sort my apps.

    For the categories, using those used by Google Play would already be a good start, even if they're sometimes too broad. For some reason, very few (if not none) of the launchers have this feature, so it would be a nice perk of Niagara.

    Rather than sorting apps automatically I’d recommend adding it as a setup-flow/guide where the user is asked to categorize apps.

    I use social platforms for either private or business reason, so automatically sorting them in a social platform folder wouldn’t be helpful.

    As it is now I can easily sort them into folders or pop-up folders manually. The recently installed apps menu also help a lot with this.

    This is absolutely essential; the automatic grouping of apps should definitely be added.

    Maybe a toggle at the top right of the home page to switch between alphabetical apps and categories (pop-up folders) so it makes it easy depending on how you want to browse without mixing the two - they should not be mixed.

    In today’s market, we shouldn’t have to manually make our own folders for items, especially when there is no way to see which items have yet to be categorized.

    Smartlauncher 6 currently does this best, but I think Niagara’s system would do it even better.
