Change icon or name of folders

I only use folders on my home screen, so every icon is just a folder. I like having everything 2 clicks away, but I have a hard time finding stuff. I have to rely on reading the names of all my folders, which isn't as fast or smooth as being able to immediately see which apps are in them.

I have a couple solutions. One is to allow the name of the folder to be the icons for each app in the folder, organized side-by-side.

The other is to be able to select custom icons in place of the generic folder icon. I know there are already icons you can choose from, but I'd like to upload my own files.
