Custom app name / text color

I'm moving from Nova launcher and I think Niagara is fantastic. However, two simple and fast changes can be incredibly impactful regarding colors. First, let users select a theme color instead of just relying on auto, wallpaper colors and standard list. For example, it allows of using a black and white background with a splurge of color that is not one of the defaults that honestly do not go well with many wallpapers styles. Second change, regarding the icon pack Outline Chroma , make two more variations, one with more saturated colors (app colors feel too pastel sometimes) and one with dark tones, to be used with light backgrounds. Seems like this icon pack was mostly tested with dark wallpapers, thus the light pastel tones go well with it, but as soon as you change to light white or beige wallpaper it feels extremely off. There's no option for outline chroma with more saturated or darker tones.

Really unfortunate that this is considered such a low priority. Seems like a basic accessibility feature to me. Having only one color option drastically limits readability on many backgrounds. I really hope this gets reconsidered soon.

Color labels is better for visibility on different wallpapers.

Impactful: It is either appealing for many or necessary for some.

I like flowers. My backgrounds are usually flowers. Any light coloured flower makes the text unreadable. This fits your definition of “Impactful”.

Essentially what has happened here is that the developers haven’t come across this blocking issue themselves and so this can be interpreted as “Works for me, wontfix”.

The fact that they have had enough requests for this feature that they have a dedicated section for it on the help site linking to this issue shows the disconnection between the app and reality.

It is a shame, I had started to get used to the new flow, and seems like a great app. But half the time I can’t read it and looks like it’ll never be fixed :(

yeah; custom colors is a “bare minimum” users wanting a custom experience would need.

Font color alone may not be sufficient. I think it’s necessary to add either a text shadow or an outline/stroke to the font. This helps prevent situations where the wallpaper color is too similar to the text color (especially when both light and dark areas exist), which can make the homepage text hard to read.

With a text shadow or stroke that contrasts with the font color, this issue can be effectively solved.

I hope such an option or feature can be added.

I think being able to remove the default clock and date widget is essential to minimalism since you can use the weather widget to get all the same info. When you add the default (non premium) weather widget you now have two different sets of the same info. 🙂‍↔️
