As @ssssaaaa has already said, you can long-press the folder > tap its icon > tap “more icon packs > select the icon pack you want to choose an icon from > select the icon.

I just started using Niagara and from what I can see what you need is already supported.
Press and hold the folder then click on the current folder icon and you can change it.
