Facebook Messenger pop up quick action not opening group chats

When Swiping a pop-up action for messenger sometimes the messages will open for individuals but group chats will not. The action appears to try and open group chat by adding the black bars to the top and bottom of the screen but then stays on the main launcher screen. I have tried using with floating bubbles and without bubbles and neither has any change.
