Home screen unresponsive Android 16

I have a google pixel 8 pro with Android 16

My wife has a pixel 9 pro with Android 16

Since upgrading to Android 16, we are both having the same issue with the Niagara home screen becoming unresponsive multiple times a day.

You can touch the icons on the home screen as usual, but nothing happens ie related application doesn’t launch or folder doesn’t open.

After a minute or two, it often becomes responsive again. It also seems to become responsive again if, for eg, a new notification appears on the phone.

Once or twice we have had to restart our phones

Any idea what the problem could be?
