Japanese app names are all grouped under "#" on Galaxy S25

Hello Niagara Launcher team,

I'm using Niagara Launcher v1.16.15 on a Samsung Galaxy S25 running One UI 8.5.

I noticed that all apps with Japanese names are grouped under "#" in the app list.

My device language is Japanese only, and the app language for Niagara Launcher is set to Use system language.

The app index on the right side shows only A, B, C... instead of Japanese sections, and Japanese app names are not sorted by their pronunciation or romanization.

I have already tried:

Updating to the latest version (v1.16.15)

Restarting the phone

Confirming that the system language is Japanese

Is this expected behavior, or could this be a bug?

    Thanks for the detailed report! This is how Niagara currently works rather than a device issue: the app list uses one Latin alphabet for every app, and names in other scripts are transliterated so that one-handed scrolling stays manageable with a single index. Japanese names that cannot be transliterated end up grouped under "#".

    The reasoning and the current state of script support are described here: Alphabet localization. A workaround that some users take is renaming the affected apps, since a renamed app sorts under its new name: Edit app icons and names.
