Hi team,
This feature request isn't originally mine, but it's one shared by many users of Niagara Launcher. In fact, it has already been requested multiple times in the following GitHub threads: #2271 (May 7, 2023), #2744 (Jun 13, 2024), and #3083 (Dec 29, 2024).
The request relates to an issue with easily accessing your favorite apps. As human beings, we develop muscle memory when performing tasks repeatedly—like tapping on specific spots on our home screen. When the favorites section moves up and down depending on whether the media widget is visible, it disrupts this behavior. You’re forced to pay close attention each time you want to launch an app, which defeats the purpose of muscle memory and minimalistic approach of Niagara launcher.
I’m aware that there are external media player widgets or KWGT widgets that can be installed—some of which have even been suggested in the threads mentioned above. However, these are far from ideal for several reasons, such as: they often lack regular maintenance, don't always detect when media is playing, especially if it was started from native apps like YouTube, Tidal, etc.
