Open apps menu bug

I am on redmi note pro 12 , Hyper OS 2.0.9.0

when I press the square button at bottom left to bring up the menu with all the open apps I cannot click an app to bring to focus, I need to reopen the app from the home screen menu in order to come in focus, it happens 90% of the time but not all the time, it started happening the last 6 months maybe, I never had this issue and I've been using the launcher since 2011, the problem goes away with the system default launcher.
