Search suggestions behavior inconsistent

Maybe I can get a more clearer explanation of the results I’m supposed to be shown when generating the search or magnifying glass but the options I’m initially given are very inconsistent.

Apps that I just used or more recently used, they rarely show up and sometimes that auto populating list is long and sometimes it’s 3 or 4 apps.

Can someone explain the login behind how that auto populating list is supposed to work.

**FYI I selected Android 16 for the Android version I’m running cause you don’t have Android 17 as an option right now.
