"Swipe up to search" immediately closes again

While “Swipe up to search” works fine in folded mode, the feature stops working when the phone is unfold.

Steps

  1. Open (unfold) the phone

  2. Swipe up to search

  3. The search bar appears for a second

  4. The search bar disappears right away

    When I swipe up to search the keyboard does not automatically open, I have to manually activate it.

    The bug is difficult to reproduce.

    I'm using gboard on a Pixel 8 (android 16)

    Same issue on Pixel 9 pro with the store version. Trying now the beta.

    I noticed that the bug is much more present when the animations are set to x0.5 in the developer menu

    Thanks for bringing this to our attention. There was an issue in our keyboard handling, which immediately closed the search screen after opening it on some devices. This has been fixed in our 1.14.11 beta, which you can grab from our official beta release channels as described in this article.

    By the way, this had the same underlying issue as the icon pack selector bug.

    Swipe Up to search crashing

    When using my fold open, tablet mode, swipe up to search does not work and crashes the launcher when phone is in battery saver mode.

    Turning off battery saver solves issue.

    Turning battery saver off then back on solves the issue. Once you get out then back in battery saver, it fixes itself.

    Only happens when using the fold in open, tablet mode.

    Does not occur when fold is closed / using front screen

    have exactly the same issue and using solana seeker mobile on android 15. Please see video attached and if this could be resolved my UX would exponentially improve.
