Swiping up gesture momentarily doesn't work after closing an app

After returning to my homescreen, I usually am quickly wanting to open up another app from my homescreen via the “swipe up and search” flow. However, there is a brief delay between when I return to my homescreen (via the home button) and am able to swipe up to search. During this brief period, I can swipe up and my home screen moves upward, but the search fails to open. This makes the niagara experience feel slow & clunky compared to other launchers
