Wallpaper frequently resets on Fairphone devices with third-party launchers

In the latest release, the background is reset to a blue abstract one frequently. I tried setting my own photo as well as setting a photo from the Niagara selection. Either way, after some hours the blue one is set again as the background for both lock and start screen. Note that I didn't set a theme from Niagara.

Thanks for reporting this issue. Since the issue is reproducible, could you please check whether it also appears when using other third-party launchers?

Here are links to Nova Launcher and Lawnchair.

I have a similar problem also with a Fairphone 5. I select a theme and after some time it gets reset to this abstract blue background.

I have the same issue. Sometimes the icons stay the same as the theme or sometimes they go back to default too, but the font and top widget position always stays the same.

I also have the same issue with a fairphone 5. It’s frustrating as hell. I can easily reproduce it everytime. I just have to set a theme, reboot the phone, wait for a few seconds and tada the blue abstract one appear. Every time!
And reboot is obviously not required. It’s just a way to force the bug to appear.

This tip “solved” the issue for me:

Ideally, maybe we could have the choice when setting a theme to assign it to just the lock screen or just the home screen.

I also have this issue. Fairphone 5. It resets to blue, the font resets, all the icons. It started only with the theme update for Niagara launcher. Before that, my wallpaper was fine and never reset.

Il have exactly the same issue. And also with a Fairphone 5 (and Android 15). ☺️

Background image reverts back after applying theme

Since the last update, every time I change the theme, after an indeterminate amount of time the background image reverts back to the “Fold” blue background, changing the accent colour as well. I've never set that image as background before.

This happens when applying any theme. Only the background image reverts back, nor the icon pack, widgets, etc. changes.

Wallpaper reverting to something else periodically

I have recently started experiencing this and am stumped. I have the background set to the Carbon gradient and it periodically switches itself to the default blue shapes one. I can't work out when this is happening but notice it often when unlocking. This started maybe five days ago

I have exactly the same issue (on a Fairphone 5, Android 15). It doesn't matter how I change the wallpaper (different themes or just a different background), it always reverts the default blue shapes. For me it started around the same time I choose a different theme for the first time a few weeks ago (but that could be a coincidence).

I hope it can be fixed, I love Niagara (as well as the pro functionality) but I’d very much like to be able to change the background :)

It seems this issue has to do with an Android update for Fairphone. A workaround for now seems to be to have different images for the lockscreen and the wallpaper. See this entry on their forum for more info:
