Multiple favorite lists for different purposes
I have an idea I didn't know how useful it would be it's similar to work mode but would be for people that don't have a whole different set of accounts and such for work. An option for alternate favorites lists. Example at work I use messages, phone and my dispatch applications (tow truck operator), the application to log my mileage and unlock my fuel card, maps and that's it. so to be able to have one that has just what I use for work and another for the apps I frequently use when off work and a simple way to switch between favorites lists because I don't need a whole separate environment for work and home and I assume a lot of others done as well.

Could be as simple as swiping left and right between favorites bar to a different profile you've set up. Or toggled by a shortcut. Like different pages on a regular launcher.
Linked to Multiple Homescreens

Super important for productivity. Sometimes I only want to see a select few work apps, sometimes I want to be in focus mode or have hobby related apps. I see a work page, hiking page, default, focus mode. I'll heavily consider buying the app if this is implemented.

Maybe you could create different presets of homescreens in the app
For people who dont want to use an automation app you can just use basic features like time and location to change the homescreen or use a button in the homescreen to select
For more advanced users you can just implement a possibility to change the preset via tasker

Since we’re trying to avoid duplicated posts, I’m making a comment here instead.
I have some few ideas on how to implement this. Mainly 2 ways of achieving this, since @mykohsu mentioned the idea of popup folders.
I believe that the homescreen switching is an extremely viable options and getting a MVP working seems doable. Just certain aspects need to be automated. There are probably more factors that I’m not considering, but hopefully the Niagara teams sees this.
My proposals are shown below.
Switching Homescreens
This is the best and in my opinion easiest to implement, because I believe that the foundation exists already. It can be done manually already, but just inconvenient and not elegant.
The backup/restore feature already has the ability to allow the changing of the homescreen. Is it clunky? Yes. Is it viable? Also yes.
Additionally, with the recent larger updates mainly focusing on the theming of the homescreen, allowing easy swapping of wallpapers/fonts/color/icons. It’s very similar to the kind of homescreen swapping that I envision, just with the addition of allowing a custom list of “favourites” per “profile” as well.
Additional Pop-up folders/ apps
System
This is difficult to implement fully considering the number of possible conditions that a user may want. I do not know what APIs that Android system provides to be able to read the state of the different modes.
From my current understanding, the Digital Wellbeing focus mode works and grays out apps that are selected. Similarly, Samsung’s focus mode also does this. Samsung also has their own automation tool called “Routines” but I do not know if they expose any sort of API and it can’t really be applied to everyone
Automation Apps
To allow complex conditions and events to be detected, the main work can be offloaded to an automation app such as Tasker or MacroDroid. However this would mean that the user would have to pay additional fees to achieve these detections.

Multiple sets of favorite apps
Add the possibility of creating multiple sets of favorite apps and switching between these sets based on need.
For example, a user can create 2 sets of favorite apps. One for work and one for off the clock. Or different sets for different countries, if a user travels between countries with different (taxi, delivery, shopping) apps a lot.
Probably the easiest option would be to change them manually from settings, but some more advanced alternatives (like left and right swiping or some automation) are also possible

It could be a carrousel like the widget stack, and chance during the day based on when you use each favorites list.

If it was possible to link these to different ‘modes’ (work, sleep etc.) that would be amazing

On top of this, instead of a special Music folder, the ability to change folders based on which BT or type of BT device is connected
