Allow Keyboard Shortcuts on Home Screen/Option to Turn Off App-Search on Home Screen

Feature Request

On Unihertz keyboard phone, similar to the communicator, the feature of launching apps from home screen using dedicated shortcuts assigned to keys on the physical keyboard is great. Currently, Niagara prioritizes app-search and cannot be turned off, so when the key assigned to launch an app is pressed, it searched for apps with that letter rather than launching the app. Being able to turn off typing to search for apps would be a great feature!

    Thanks for the suggestion! The same request is already being tracked here: Physical Keyboard Shortcuts vs Search. It asks for exactly this, physical key shortcuts from the home screen or at least a way to turn off type-to-search, and it also mentions Unihertz shortcuts being taken over.

    Upvoting it there is the best way to push it, since we work through requests roughly by upvotes, and you will get notified when its status changes.

    One thing that already works today: on the home screen the number keys 1 to 9 launch the nth app in the list, while letters start the app search. The full list is here: Mouse and Keyboard Support.
