Smooth swipe down and up

Right now, swiping up on home screen open search and swiping down opens notification shade. However it requires a swipe until a small limit is broken to open either one of those. It would work much smoother to have those gestures function how pixel launcher does. Where the start of a swipe up or down immediately brings part of the needed screen into view. And that screen can be brought into view with the completion of the gesture.
