Toggle to disable numeric keyboard activations

Feature Request

Phones with numeric keys use these keys for speed dial.


My kids have those phones and I want them to use Niagara launcher

But Niagara launcher intercepts keypad press to open an app, so the speed dial does not work.

Please add a toggle to disable it.

    Thanks for the suggestion, and for explaining the speed dial case. What you're running into is intended behavior at the moment: on the home screen the number keys 1 to 9 launch the nth app in your list, so they never reach the dialer. The full shortcut list is here: Mouse and Keyboard Support.

    There is no setting to switch that off today, and the request for exactly that toggle is already being tracked here: Physical Keyboard Shortcuts vs Search. Upvoting it there is the best way to push it, since we go through requests roughly by upvotes, and you'll get updates when its status changes.

    Keyboard handling is also being reworked right now as part of Niagara Launcher for the Clicks Communicator, and the v1.16.24 release notes explicitly ask hardware keyboard users to report anything that got worse. Your speed dial case is worth adding as a comment on that post, since it's a different reason for wanting the toggle than the app shortcuts described there.
